Menu design · ChatGPT · October 2026
A printable menu, a chalkboard and a menu board, with every price right.
In ChatGPT, add the Creative Claw plugin and paste your dishes, descriptions and prices. For print, an HTML render lays the menu out exactly in your colours and fonts (about 1 credit for ours). For a chalkboard look, Nano Banana 2 lettered our four specials and prices correctly (24 credits). For the screen above the counter, a 16:9 menu board loop shows the specials beside moving shots of each dish.

Finished example
We invented a restaurant, Brasa Azul, an Oaxacan-Californian grill in San Diego’s North Park, and started from three ordinary phone photos taken at the pass. FLUX Kontext Max retouched the light and background without touching the food, Gemini Omni Flash shot three reels, ElevenLabs v4 voiced the promo in English and Spanish, Lyria 3.5 sang a bilingual jingle, Nano Banana 2 lettered the chalkboard, and an HTML render made a printable menu with exact prices.
Voiceover script
“Brasa Azul specials: Mole Negro Chicken $24, Birria Tacos (3) $18, Blue Corn Quesadilla $14, Mezcal Naranja $15.”

The restaurant, dishes and phone photos are fictional and were generated for this page; with your own phone photos, skip nothing but the photos themselves. We also spent about 260 more credits testing which model keeps a dish unchanged (results on the food photos page).

The workflow
Install Creative Claw from ChatGPT’s plugin directory and sign in. New accounts get 100 free credits, no card. Paste dishes, descriptions, prices and tags.
Ask for an HTML-rendered menu at letter size in your colours, with a dish photo at the top.
Ask for a chalkboard or a wall menu with this week’s specials lettered in; read every line.
Ask for a 16:9 loop with the specials and prices beside short shots of each dish.

Before you render
HTML renders print your text exactly; AI-lettered boards usually do, but check each line before printing.
Tag vegetarian, gluten-free and allergens only where your recipes support it, and invite guests to ask.
Change the light, background and steam, never the food: same portion, same ingredients, same plate. Compare every edit with your original photo before you post it.
The FTC rule in force since October 2024 bans fake reviews and testimonials, including AI-generated ones. An AI voice can read your own offer, never pose as a customer.

Practical answers
Yes, with Creative Claw. Paste the dishes, descriptions and prices and ask for a printable menu: an HTML render lays it out exactly, with your fonts and colours, for about 1 credit.
In an HTML render, yes: the text is your text. For a hand-lettered look, Nano Banana 2 lettered our chalkboard’s four dishes and prices correctly, but read every line before you print.
Yes. Ours, a blue-tiled wall with white and orange chalk, cost 24 credits at 2K. Change the specials and regenerate in a minute.
Yes. Our 16:9 loop shows the specials with exact prices beside looping shots of each dish, cut with HyperFrames.
Yes. Our menu marks vegetarian and gluten-free dishes and asks guests to tell the server about allergies. Make sure every tag matches your recipes.
Yes. Ask for a second language under each dish or a separate translated menu, and have a native speaker check it.
US letter (8.5 × 11 in) is common. Our render was 1275 × 1650 pixels, which is 150 dpi; for print, ask for 2550 × 3300 pixels (300 dpi) or a PDF from your print shop’s template.
Paste the new prices and render again; an HTML menu is rebuilt from your text in seconds, so nothing has to be retyped by hand.
About 1 credit for an HTML-rendered menu, 24 for a Nano Banana 2 chalkboard, plus 16 for a dish photo on it. Menu templates on Canva need a paid plan for the ChatGPT and Claude connector.
Not edited ones. DoorDash’s help center says menu photos must be “clean and unedited,” must show “the actual item served, not an idealized or generic version,” must be landscape 16:9, and that photoshopping a background onto a photo is cause for rejection. Upload your real photo, well shot.
Uber Eats uses AI itself: since July 2025 it improves low-quality merchant photos (lighting, resolution, framing and plating), and press reports say it can change plates and backgrounds. Check how your dishes look in the app.
Google’s photo guidelines ask for “no significant alterations or excessive use of filters” and say the image “should represent reality.” Post real photos; cleaning up light and background is the most to do.
No. Showing food you do not serve, or more than you serve, is deceptive advertising. Generate scenes and mood freely, but keep every plate in an ad or menu photo true to what customers get.
No. The FTC rule in force since October 21, 2024 bans fake reviews and testimonials, including AI-generated ones, with civil penalties for knowing violations. Quote real reviews you have permission to use.
TikTok requires labels on realistic AI-generated content, and Meta asks creators to disclose photorealistic AI video. Turn on the platform’s AI label for reels made with AI.
