Tell KDP what AI made
KDP asks you to disclose AI-generated text, images (cover and interior) and translations when you publish. AI-assisted work, where you created it and AI helped edit or brainstorm, does not need disclosure.
Book covers · ChatGPT · October 2026
Three cover concepts for 72 credits, with your title spelled right.
In ChatGPT, add the Creative Claw plugin and describe the book: title, author name, genre, mood and the scene you picture. Nano Banana 2 designs a 2:3 cover at 2K with the lettering in for 24 credits ($0.24). We made three concepts for one fictional novel (a painted storm, a minimalist envelope, a Victorian woodcut) and a Spanish edition, and every title was spelled correctly. KDP’s ideal ebook cover is 2,560 × 1,600 pixels; KDP asks you to disclose AI-generated covers.

Before and after
The Spanish edition is one Nano Banana 2 edit of the English cover: the same lighthouse, storm and lantern figure, with a new title and tagline.
Original
AI cover edit Finished example
We invented a novel, The Salt Archive by Mara Quill, a gothic mystery set in a fog-bound harbour town, to show a full launch kit. Nano Banana 2 designed three covers with the title spelled right, a Spanish edition cover and two quote cards; Gemini Omni Flash shot the trailer scenes; Gemini 3.8 Flash TTS voiced the trailer and read chapter one as a retail sample; Lyria 3.5 scored it; and HyperFrames cut the trailer with text hooks on the narration. If you already have a cover, skip the first rows.
Voiceover script
“Every year, on the night of the drowning, the sea gives something back to Wrenhaven. Letters. Sealed. Never read. For nineteen years, Ada Lorne has filed them away. Tonight, one of them has her name on it.”
| Step | Tool | Credits |
|---|---|---|
| Three cover concepts with title and author lettered in | Nano Banana 2, 2K | 72 |
| Spanish edition cover (two tries) | Nano Banana 2, 2K | 48 |
| Four trailer stills | Nano Banana 2, 2K | 96 |
| Two quote cards | Nano Banana 2, 2K | 48 |
| Three 6-second trailer shots, 1080p | Gemini Omni Flash | 414 |
| 26-second trailer voiceover | Gemini 3.8 Flash TTS | 4 |
| 2:19 audiobook sample, chapter one | Gemini 3.8 Flash TTS | 30 |
| 40-second Spanish narration | Gemini 3.8 Flash TTS | 8 |
| Trailer score | Lyria 3.5 | 16 |
| Word checks on the narration | Transcribe | 3 |
| Trailer and audiobook sample videos | HyperFrames (render_html_video) | 27 |
| Total for the finished example | 766 ($7.66) | |
The book, author, characters and text are fictional and were written for this page. The trailer and audiobook videos were rendered with HyperFrames; render_html_video quotes about 27 credits for all three. Without the covers and quote cards, the trailer and narration alone are about 550 credits.

The workflow
Install Creative Claw from ChatGPT’s plugin directory and sign in. New accounts get 100 free credits, no card.
Give the title, author name, genre, mood, palette and the scene; attach earlier covers if it is a series.
Ask for three different concepts in one go and pick one; each is a separate 24-credit image.
Check every letter, ask for 4K or an upscale, and lay out the print wrap with KDP’s cover calculator.
Pricing
Creative Claw is pay as you go: $10 buys 1,000 credits, new accounts get 100 free credits, and there is no subscription. Typical costs for this workflow:

Before you render
KDP asks you to disclose AI-generated text, images (cover and interior) and translations when you publish. AI-assisted work, where you created it and AI helped edit or brainstorm, does not need disclosure.
Check the title, subtitle and your name on each concept; regenerate rather than fix a misspelling by hand.
Do not copy another book’s cover, a bestseller’s trade dress or an artist’s signature style.
KDP’s ideal ebook cover is 2,560 × 1,600 px; print covers need the full wrap for your trim and page count.

Practical answers
Yes, with Creative Claw. Give the title, author name, genre and mood; Nano Banana 2 designs a 2:3 cover at 2K with the lettering in for 24 credits ($0.24).
Nano Banana 2 lettered “THE SALT ARCHIVE” and “MARA QUILL” correctly on all three concepts and on the Spanish edition. Still read every letter before you publish.
Yes. Each concept is another 24-credit image; we made a painted storm scene, a minimalist sinking envelope and a Victorian woodcut for the same book.
KDP’s ideal ebook cover is 2,560 pixels tall by 1,600 wide, as a JPEG or TIFF. Nano Banana 2 at 2K delivers 2,528 by 1,696; ask for 4K or an upscale if you want more headroom.
It makes the front artwork and matching back art. The full wrap depends on trim size and page count, so lay it out with KDP’s cover calculator or Cover Creator, or ask for a wrap at the exact pixel size KDP gives you.
Yes. Ask for an edit that only swaps the words. Our first try repainted the whole scene; the second kept the lighthouse, storm and lantern figure but changed the lettering style, so compare before you approve.
Yes. Attach the earlier covers as references and describe what must stay (title placement, type, palette); each new cover is one generation.
24 credits ($0.24) per cover at 2K with Nano Banana 2, or 16 at 1K. New accounts get 100 free credits, enough for four concepts.
Canva’s ChatGPT and Claude connector needs a paid Canva plan and works from templates; a designer charges per cover. Creative Claw generates new artwork per request with no plan.
Nano Banana 2 for painted and photographic covers with lettering; GPT Image 2.5 and Ideogram are good alternatives for typography-heavy designs. You can name any model in the request.
Yes. KDP’s content guidelines ask you to disclose AI-generated content, including text, images (cover and interior art) and translations, when you publish or republish. Content an AI tool created counts as AI-generated even if you edited it a lot. AI-assisted work (you made it, AI helped edit or brainstorm) does not need disclosure.
Not through ACX. ACX’s submission requirements (April 2026) say audiobooks must be narrated by a human unless otherwise authorised, and unauthorised text-to-speech is prohibited. Amazon’s own Virtual Voice, an invite-only KDP beta, is the authorised AI route.
Spotify for Authors accepts digital voice narration from providers “like Google Play Books, ElevenLabs, and more” and adds a disclosure line. Google Play Books accepts uploads with a synthesized-voice narrator. Kobo Writing Life accepts AI narration credited to a synthesised voice (as reported). Apple Books offers only its own digital narration. Check each store before you narrate a whole book.
Your text stays yours. In the US, the Copyright Office says prompts alone do not make an image copyrightable; your own selection, arrangement and edits can be. Keep your drafts. This is not legal advice.
No. The FTC rule in force since October 21, 2024 bans fake reviews and testimonials, including AI-generated ones, with civil penalties for knowing violations. Quote your own book, or real reviews you have permission to use.
On YouTube and TikTok, label realistic AI-generated video with the platform’s AI disclosure. A stylised or clearly illustrated trailer usually is not covered; check each platform’s current rules when you post.
