Add subtitles to a video: word-timed captions in ChatGPT and Claude

Creative Claw adds subtitles inside ChatGPT, Claude or Codex: attach the video and ask for captions, and it transcribes the speech, times every word and burns karaoke-style subtitles into a new MP4, sized for Reels, TikTok or YouTube. You can set the position, size, colors and an exact Google Font, and fix any misheard word for free. It costs 6 credits a minute with a 2-credit minimum, so our 6-second clip was 2 credits ($0.02).

Captions that follow a voiceover

The captions on our 15-second HALCYO ad are timed word by word to the ElevenLabs voiceover. How it was made

Brand names spelled right

The transcript heard “Helsio”; the captions say HALCYO. Fix names once and the video renders again at no charge. How it was made

Captions on a narrated explainer

Landscape captions, up to four words at a time, on a 15-second 16:9 explainer. How it was made

How it works

  1. 1

    Attach the video

Upload it or paste a link. Any clip with clear speech works; portrait, square and landscape are sized automatically.

  2. 2

    Choose the look

Keep the large social default or set the position, size, colors, outline and an exact Google Font. Portrait videos show three words at a time.

  3. 3

    Burn them in

Creative Claw transcribes, times each word and renders a new MP4: 6 credits a minute, 2-credit minimum.

  4. 4

    Fix and export

Correct any misheard name in the caption editor and the video renders again at no charge. Then download the MP4.

FAQ

How do I add subtitles to a video with AI? +

Install Creative Claw in ChatGPT or Claude, attach the video and ask for subtitles. It transcribes the speech, times each word and burns the captions into a new MP4.

How much does it cost? +

6 credits a minute with a 2-credit minimum. A 6-second clip cost 2 credits ($0.02); a 3-minute video is about 18.

Can Claude add captions to a video by itself? +

No. Claude cannot open video files. With Creative Claw it captions one from the chat.

Which languages are supported? +

Give the spoken language, such as es, fr, ja or zh, and the captions switch to a font that covers that script. Without a language the default is English.

Can I change the font and colors? +

Yes: position (top, center or bottom), size, text, highlight and outline colors, a background box, and any Google Font that covers your language.

What if a word is wrong? +

Fix it in the caption editor and the video renders again at no charge. Brand and people’s names are the usual misses, so check them first.

Do the captions fit Reels and TikTok? +

Yes. Portrait videos get up to three words per caption, placed in a safe area above the app buttons.

Can I try it for free? +

Yes. New Creative Claw accounts get 100 free credits with no card, enough for two 5-second MiniMax H3 Max Fast clips or six Nano Banana 2 images. After that, $10 buys 1,000 credits that never expire, with no subscription.

Does it work in ChatGPT and Claude? +

Yes. Install Creative Claw from the ChatGPT plugin directory, or in Claude add it from Claude's plugin directory (Customize → Plugins, then search for Creative Claw), connect on the plugin's Connectors tab, then sign in. The same account and credits also work in Codex, Cursor and OpenClaw.
