Claude questions · October 2026

Which Claude model is best for video generation?

None of them renders video. Claude writes the plan; a video model makes the pixels.

None of them: every current Claude model, Fable 5.1, Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 5.5, takes text and images in and gives text out, so the Claude model you pick never changes how a video looks. The picture comes from the video model a plugin adds. With Creative Claw in Claude, use Seedance 2.5 for cinematic realism, Gemini Omni Flash for clips that speak, MiniMax H3 Max for several scenes in one 15-second clip, and MiniMax H3 Max Fast for 40-credit ($0.40) drafts. The Claude model shapes the plan: Sonnet 5.5 is quick for single clips, and Opus 5.5 is the stronger planner for long multi-shot scripts.

Finished example

One frame, three video models, three results

We gave Gemini Omni Flash, Seedance 2.5 and MiniMax H3 Max Fast the same Nano Banana 2 frame and the same prompt; only the video model changed. Seedance 2.5, shown here, gave the best overall motion. H3 Max Fast kept the most detail for the least money, and Gemini Omni moved the most but split the kite’s tail into two strands.

The workflow

How do I choose the models for a video in Claude?

  1. Pick the Claude model for the job

Sonnet 5.5 for single clips and quick changes, Opus 5.5 for a script with many shots, and Fable 5.1, where your plan includes it, for the longest plans. Haiku 5.5 is enough for renaming files or rewriting caption text.

  2. Add Creative Claw

Open it in Claude’s plugin directory, click Add, connect it on the Connectors tab and sign in. On Claude Free, add https://app.creativeclaw.co/mcp as your one custom connector.

  3. Say what matters most

Describe the shot and name the priority: realism, spoken lines, length, several scenes or lowest cost. Claude proposes a video model and shows the credit estimate before rendering.

  4. Draft cheap, finish premium

Approve a 40-credit H3 Max Fast draft or a 119-credit Seedance 2.5 480p draft first, then render the keeper at full quality. A Seedance 480p draft can be finalized at 1080p within 7 days.

Before you render

What should I check before rendering?

The model menu does not pick the video model

Switching Claude between Opus and Sonnet changes the writing, not the footage. Name the video model in your request, or ask Claude to recommend one.

Thinking longer uses your Claude plan

A stronger Claude model or higher effort draws on your plan’s usage limits. Creative Claw credits pay only for the media it renders.

Claude Motion is not footage

Team and Enterprise list Claude Motion (beta), which animates text, charts and images with code. For filmed-looking scenes you still need a video model.

Practical answers

Frequently asked questions

Can any Claude model generate video?

No. Fable 5.1, Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 5.5 accept text and images and return text. Video comes from a plugin or connector that calls a video model.

Which Claude model should I use with a video plugin?

Sonnet 5.5 is quick for single clips and changes. Opus 5.5 is the better planner for a multi-shot script, and Fable 5.1, where your plan has it, for the longest jobs. The video looks the same whichever you choose.

Which video model is best in Claude?

It depends on the shot: Seedance 2.5 for cinematic realism and references, Gemini Omni Flash for characters who speak, MiniMax H3 Max for several scenes in one clip, and H3 Max Fast for cheap drafts.

Is Opus better than Sonnet for video prompts?

For long, multi-shot work, usually: Anthropic positions Opus 5.5 for long-running agentic work. For one 5-second clip the difference is small, and Sonnet 5.5 is faster.

Does Claude Free have a model that makes video?

No plan does. Claude Free gives you Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 5.5, and you can add Creative Claw as your one custom connector to render video.

What does a video cost in Claude?

With Creative Claw, a 5-second clip costs 40 credits ($0.40) with H3 Max Fast, 75 ($0.75) with Gemini Omni Flash at 720p and 267 ($2.67) with Seedance 2.5 at 720p. New accounts get 100 free credits.

Can Claude compare video models for me?

Yes. Ask for the same shot from two or three models. Claude shows each estimate first, then plays every result in the chat so you can pick one.

Is Claude Motion a video model?

No. Claude Motion (beta, on Team and Enterprise) builds animated explainers from text, charts and images with code. It does not generate filmed-looking footage.

Does this work in ChatGPT too?

Yes. Creative Claw is also a ChatGPT plugin, with the same video models, prices and saved assets. There too, the chat model plans and the video model renders.
