Higgsfield Credits Explained: Expiry, Unlimited Access, and Refunds
Higgsfield’s credit rules depend on the type of balance and where you generate. Subscription credits, purchased top-ups, promotional credits, and unlimited model access are separate things. Understand each one before estimating how far a plan will go.
Creative Claw publishes this explainer. We checked Higgsfield’s official documentation on October 8, 2026. This is a summary of published billing rules, not a test of every account or a promise about how support will resolve an individual case.
Do Higgsfield credits expire?
Higgsfield states that subscription credits end with their billing period, purchased top-ups are valid for 90 days, and promotional balances follow their stated expiry dates. Its credit expiry guide distinguishes these balances.
| Balance or benefit | Validity | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription credits | Current billing period | Renewal date and remaining allowance |
| Purchased top-ups | 90 days from purchase | Purchase date and remaining balance |
| Promotional credits | Expiry shown when issued | Offer-specific date and restrictions |
| Unlimited models | Plan and model eligibility | Eligible model, access period, and website-only use |
For a project with irregular timing, make a small purchase when the work is ready. Buying a large balance months ahead of a shoot or client approval creates a different budgeting problem from paying for a generation today.
Does unlimited mean every model, everywhere?
No. Higgsfield’s unlimited model guide describes eligible models and access conditions. Its credit guide says unlimited and free model generations apply on the Higgsfield website, while external workflows such as MCP deduct credits.
Before subscribing for an automated workflow, identify the exact model, its settings, the interface you will use, and how that interface charges. Access to a model and unlimited use of that model are separate benefits. A web promotion should not be used as the budget for an assistant or API workflow without checking its terms.
What happens to top-up credits after cancellation?
Higgsfield’s main cancellation and expiry explanation says purchased balances remain on the free plan until their validity ends, with a smaller model lineup. However, an FAQ on that same page says top-ups become unavailable until reactivation. Those descriptions are inconsistent about post-cancellation access.
If you need to spend a remaining balance after canceling, ask support to confirm access to your specific model in writing. Keep the answer, purchase receipt, and expiry date. Canceling renewal, deleting an account, and requesting a refund are separate actions with different consequences.
Do failed generations get their credits back?
Higgsfield’s credit guide says failed jobs usually receive automatic credit returns within minutes, with exceptions for specific models. Check the usage history for the original debit and corresponding return.
Three situations should be separated:
- A technical failure: the job errors instead of delivering its result.
- A completed output you dislike: the model generates a file, but its motion, identity, or product fidelity is poor.
- A cash refund: returning a payment to your payment method rather than restoring credits.
A policy about one situation does not establish a policy about the others. When contacting support, include the job ID, model, time, charge, final status, and what actually happened. That makes a specific billing issue easier to investigate than a general description of a bad video.
What does Higgsfield say about cash refunds?
Section 9.3 of its terms describes a seven-day window for eligible unused initial purchases and credit-based add-ons, subject to conditions, possible service fees, and applicable local rights. Renewals and used balances have different treatment. Read the full terms for your purchase rather than treating an automatic credit return as a cash-refund guarantee.
Which alternatives let purchased credits last longer?
Creative Claw’s purchased credits never expire and do not require a subscription. Runway also says purchased additional credits never expire, while its monthly allowances have separate plan-specific rules. Sources: Creative Claw pricing and Runway pricing.
Those policies help with projects that pause. They do not guarantee better model output or a lower unit price. For a fair comparison, price the same video settings and the usage pattern you expect. Our Higgsfield alternatives guide compares the options for ChatGPT and Claude.
What should I check before paying for AI video credits?
- Write down the dollar cost for your model, resolution, duration, and references.
- Check both the subscription allowance and the purchased top-up policy.
- Check whether the workflow you use is covered by an unlimited offer.
- Read the technical failure, completed-output, and cash-refund rules separately.
- Test one representative brief and record all attempts before purchasing a larger balance.
Use total spend divided by usable outputs to evaluate your test. A low advertised generation price can still produce an expensive finished clip if it needs several takes. A more expensive model may earn its price if the output you need works sooner.
